The “35” is such a versatile lens and can do everything except take telephoto type shots. One of my favorite things to do in the spring and fall is to take early morning walks with just my Leica and the 35mm Summicron. Wicker rocking chairs wait to be used at the Sandy Bay Yacht Club. Below is a video I did on this little project.Ĭategories landscape photography, Leica, photography, rockport, Story behind the photo, Travel Photography, Uncategorized, Visual Story Telling Tags B&W photography, boats, bright colors, early morning, gloucester, Leica, Leica M240, Leica Photography, photography, rockport ma, travel photography I can’t wait to shoot some film with that combination later on this summer it should be fun. The combination of this little lens and camera brought me back to the old days of shooting with my Leica M3 with this lens. I just loved poking around the old hulls etc. Dinghy’s at the Gloucester Maritime Centerįinding compositions over at the Maritime Center is a breeze as they are everywhere. I found very little wrong with the results they were outstanding. The black and white conversions were outstanding as well meaning that the contrast was top notch. Dinghy’s at the Gloucester Maritime Center What a gem! I was curious to see how the color would be an I was pleasantly surprised at the images I got. It’s like a piece of jewelry all cleaned up. This lens has a very nice vignette to it as you can see in the image above. It will be fun to be able to see the frame lines correctly for once.
I am sending mine to Tamarkin Camera in Chicago in return for a 35mm one. The unfortunate thing is that the thread mount to bayonet mount I have on it is for a 90mm not a 35 so the wrong frame lines come up in the viewfinder. A few years ago I had the lens cleaned of fungus and started using it on my Leica M-P 240. I was given this lens when I was 15 years old along with the external viewfinder. So recently I went out to test a lens that was made in 1958 the Leica 35mm f3.5 LTM (thread mount) Summaron. Below are some samples of photos taken with the Leica M240 + 50mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH.Using vintage lenses that were manufactured many years ago has always fascinated me! For photo geeks it’s intriguing but for most people they just care about the image. Having used the more advanced M10-R recently, I am totally in love with the touch screen functions as you can zoom in to your image instantly as well as to check your focus peaking accuracy.ĭespite its age, the camera still renders image flawlessly. I secretly wish it comes with a touch screen. It’s Size - The M240 is relatively larger and heavier than the newer M in comparison.
Given the fact that I am used to shooting with film M all these while, hence I am pretty comfortable with it still.

Limited ISO range - given the fact that this is a 9 yr old camera, the ISO performance is certainly hard to compete with the newer M models. Even though it does not have image stabilization hence the video could be a little shaky at times but it’s quite good to have sometimes. Video - Given the fact that not many M users use the video mode but I feel it’s a good function to have when necessary. Think Lenny Kravitz Leica M-P ( click image HERE ) The paint will wear off over time and reveal the golden bronze patina which I love.

I guess due to the video function, the engineers created a much larger capacity battery which is a major plus point.īlack paint instead of black chrome - I am a huge huge fan of black paint as it ages really well.
In 3 days at -10 deg Celcius, I only use up only 3/4 of one battery which is pretty amazing! From my experience, most of the battery would die off rather quickly due to the extreme weather. This battery just keeps working! I brought this camera to the Everest Base Camp with just two fully charged battery and there ware no charging point along the way.
#Leica m240 1080p#
The no-frills M240 is equipped with 24 megapixels CMOS sensor, ISO range of 200 to 6400, 1080p video mode ( in fact the only M camera with video function ), built-in live view with focus peaking and shutter speed up to 1/4000sīack then, the improvement of the M240 was leaps and bounds ahead of the CCD equipped M9 however moving forward 9 yrs, is this camera still relevant/competent till today with the new M10, M10p and M10-R which is way more advanced? Here is my take on this. It is still my go-to digital M camera till today which I heart dearly. The Leica Type M240 is my first digital M camera which I bought when It was first launched in 2012.
